About
Six days in the AADRL studio, at your own pace. This VOD captures the entire 6-day in-person workshop (general fee ₩300,000) led at Hongik University by tutor Hanjun Kim, Visiting Lecturer at the AA School's DRL (Design Research Laboratory) in London. No coding experience needed. Using Unity and AI vibe coding (Codex), you'll implement cellular automata yourself and follow along all the way to form-finding, using those rules to generate architectural form. ■ What You'll Gain · A starting point for a computational design project you can include in your portfolio · A workflow for implementing algorithms with AI instead of memorizing code line by line · The complete AADRL-style critique process, as team projects evolve from concept → midterm crit → final presentation · Core generative design concepts such as cellular automata, the Game of Life, and 2.5D stacking ■ Curriculum · 6 days / 27 lectures / approx. 16 hours 30 minutes DAY 1 · Cellular automata theory and Unity basics (2h 51m) DAY 2 · Implementing cellular automata in C#: grids, image seeds, Game of Life, 2.5D stacking (3h 12m) DAY 3 · Visualization, Codex vibe coding, and team concept development (2h 59m) DAY 4 · Past workshop case studies and midterm presentations/feedback (2h 28m) DAY 5 · Team midterm critiques (2h 55m) DAY 6 · Final presentations and workshop wrap-up (2h 11m) See the lecture list below for details on each part. ■ Recommended For · Those preparing for graduate architecture programs abroad such as the AA or The Bartlett who need a computational portfolio · Those who want to move beyond Grasshopper into code- and algorithm-based design · Those with no coding experience who want to apply AI vibe coding to architecture · Those who missed the in-person workshop ■ Tutor · Hanjun Kim Architectural Designer & Educator · Visiting Lecturer, Architectural Association (AADRL) · Adjunct Professor, Oxford Brookes University ■ What You'll Need · Laptop (Windows / Mac) · Unity 6.3 (free) · ChatGPT account (for Codex vibe coding exercises) · Rhino + Grasshopper (optional) ■ Course Information · Recording of the 6-day workshop held at Hongik University in August 2026. · Edited at 1.1x speed with waiting and break times removed. · Access lasts 12 weeks from enrollment, and you can rewatch lectures in any order during that period. ■ View Workshop Details https://www.beyond-chapter.com/aadrlpreviewonline
